Edward P. Nordberg, Jr.

Ed serves as a Senior Managing Director for ABR Capital Partners and is an experienced real estate and finance executive, having spent thirty years leading businesses that have invested institutional capital in middle market transactions. During his career, Ed has directed or overseen hundreds of investments in seniors housing portfolios, medical office building portfolios, other real estate assets and corporate finance transactions. Prior to ABR, Ed served as the Executive Chairman of Wakefield Capital Management, Inc., which he co-founded in 2004. Since its inception, Wakefield acquired, managed and sold (in part through a joint venture with Northstar Realty Finance, Inc.), over $750 million in seniors housing and healthcare-related real estate. From May 2004 through April 2006, Ed directed Wakefield’s investment and asset management activities on behalf of CNL Retirement, Inc. and a private real estate investment partnership known as Chain Bridge Capital. From April 1998 through April 2004, Ed served as CFO and, later, CEO of Medical Office Properties, Inc., which was sold to CNL Retirement, Inc. in April 2004 for $256.5 million. In 1993, Ed co-founded and served as CFO and Director of HealthCare Financial Partners, Inc., a commercial finance company focused on the healthcare services industry, which was taken public in 1996 and sold for approximately $500 million in 1999 to Heller Financial, Inc., now part of Capital One Financial Corporation. Prior to 1993, Ed was a practicing lawyer with Williams & Connolly in Washington, DC. He received his BA from Washington College, his MBA from Loyola College and his JD from Georgetown University. In addition to his professional activities, Ed serves as a member (and past chair) of the Board of Visitors and Governors of Washington College and served as former chair at both Rebuilding Together and the USA Lacrosse Foundation.
